Junior Club Champs 2024

Huge congratulations to all the Juniors who participated in the Club Championships last week. Over 120 juniors participated and it was a huge success overall! The weather was very kind to us and it was great to see so many matches played by all juniors over the week. Congratulations to all the prize winners and to all the juniors who made it such a great fun week.

Thanks also to everyone that helped out in any capacity throughout the week – all hugely appreciated.

Fitzwilliam - Irish Junior National Championships

Well done to all the Sutton members who took part in Fitzwilliam this week. It’s a huge achievement just to make it there.

William Kell is in the quarter today of the Boys u18 singles. Jacques McHugh and Max Miller are on court this morning in the Boys U14 Doubles semi finals. 

A mention for Conor Reamsbottom and Mae Murphy who both picked up win on their debut at the event

Junior and Senior Open Results

Well done to Emma Hickey who won the Girls U14 Doubles in Donnybrook. Jacques McHugh and Max Miller made the semi finals in the Boys U14 doubles event.

Ladies Wednesday Morning Time Tennis Resumes 

Ladies Time Tennis will resume on Wednesday 4 September after the summer break.

Tennis starts at 10am and finishes at 12 noon followed by coffee/tea in the Lounge

Men's & Ladies DLTC Senior Leagues

We have a busy autumn calendar for our Masters players with DLTC Senior League, Ladies O.60yrs & Mens 65yrs Leagues all starting in the first week of September.

We are delighted to enter our first team in the DLTC Ladies O.60yrs league.  This team will be captained by Mary Barry and we wish the team the best of luck in their matches

The response to our invitation to members to sign up for the 3 leagues has been fantastic and teams are currently being finalised by the by the Tennis Committee.  Players not on a team will be nominated as a sub.

DLTC Floodlight League

Floodlight League will start on Monday 23 September for our Mens teams and on Tuesday 24 September for our Ladies teams.

This is an interclub league run by the Dublin Lawn Tennis Council.  Teams consist of 4 players and a draw is made on the evening of each fixture to decide who plays singles and doubles.  The format is 2 singles and 1 doubles.

Update your Tournament Software Account

As our busy tennis calendar gets underway we are asking players and parents/guardians of our junior players  to log into their ti.tournament software accounts and check that all details ie Club, email address and mobile numbers are up-to-date.

In particular, please ensure that your mobile number is in the mobile number field in your account.  This will ensure that you will receive text updates during tournaments when necessary.

To change Club on your account please email info@tennisireland.ie to request a change to Sutton LTC from your previous club

Please see the hooks now provided for our clay court drag mats. Please leave them on the hooks after use to protect the bristles. 

If any member notices any issues with the courts ie broken net bands etc please report the fault to the office and it will be repaired.

Pilot Dublin Padel League

Dear Members,

As was previously communicated in the July Management Committee report, a pilot Dublin Padel League is being set up for players over 18 years of age. 

Following the meeting of various Club representatives within the Dublin area,  the pilot league with 2 Divisions will start on Saturday 15^th September. Matches will take place at 2pm on Saturday afternoons.  Teams will be made up of 2 doubles pairings.Clubs are allowed to enter a maximum of 2 Mens and 2 Ladies teams. In line with other Clubs taking part, only one Padel court in Sutton LTC will be allocated for Padel League matches.  Furthermore, in the absence of competition to ascertain players’ level, Clubs have agreed that for the pilot league, players are to be rotated on teams.    As with Squash and Tennis Leagues, each team will require a captain to manage the team and rotate the players and submit the results.

We have provisionally entered 2 Mens and 2 Ladies teams and we now invite members to sign up to participate in this league.

SENIOR SQUASH CALENDAR SUTTON

The Senior Squash Calendar will be available on the notice boards this week. It will include Round Robin dates, Squash Social Dates and other dates for your diary.

CONSIDERING SENIOR SQUASH LEAGUE

Each year we enter Senior Squash League Teams in the Leinster Squash Leagues Competition. Sutton pride themselves in the fact that we have committed and strong League Teams and featured for many years in the winning circle. We had a very successful season 2023/24 and hope to enter more teams this year.

Mens Teams are made up of 5 players and Ladies 4 players. It is a great opportunity to compete as a team in such an individual sport. Matches are Home and Away throughout Leinster and run from October until approximately March/April and it is followed by Cup Competition, which is a knockout system.

It is important to get commitments from players who will make themselves available for the matches each week both home and away. There are many divisions of different standards from Premier to Division 6.

JUNIOR SQUASH COACHING – FORMS OUT NOW

The Junior Squash Coaching forms are available now. Coaching starts the week beginning Monday 2nd September. Classes run on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 3.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m.

Course runs on a six week rollover basis at a cost of €65 for the six weeks.

Get your requests in early to avoid disappointment. Numbers are limited and standard based and payment must accompany form.
