Junior Club Champs 2024

The biggest junior week of the summer is up and running. We have nearly 120 kids playing and the sun has been shining.

Big thanks to Helen, Barbara, Orna, Rob, Ciaran, Lara and all the helpers through the week.

We have some finals today Thursday August 15th with most finals tomorrow August 16th.

Finals will take place from 11am with the last matches at 4pm. Please come down and support all our juniors.

Sutton LTC Senior Open sponsored by Adrian Dunne Pharmacy Group

Our T1000 Sutton LTC Senior Open has attracted our largest entry to-date and starts this Saturday at 9am. Play continues at 9am on Sunday and from 6pm Monday-Friday next week. To facilitate the huge entry there will be matches at 5pm also.   Courts not required at 5pm will be released to members for booking up to 6pm when each daily schedule is confirmed

Best of luck to all the Sutton  players taking part and we hope that our members will come along and support them in their matches throughout the week.

The Bar will be open from 2pm on Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th August and in the evenings throughout the tournament. 

The Bar  Committee are hosting two events : A Gin Cocktail night on Wednesday the 21st August where our expertly created cocktails by our very own JB  will be €6.50 each.    A Cocktail Night on Friday 23rd August will feature a Trio of blended cocktails at the bargain price of €7.50 each.

We look forward to welcoming our members to support our home players and the efforts of our voluntary Bar Staff

Mon 19th - Friday 23rd Aug     6 Courts from 5pm  All courts from 6pm

Ladies O.60yrs DLTC League & Mens O.65yrs DLTC League

We have entered one team in the upcoming DLTC Ladies O.60s league which starts on 4th Sept and one team in the DLTC Mens O.65 league which starts on the 5th Sept.   

Teams will be selected by the Tennis Committee and players not on a team will be nominated as a sub 

Tennis & BBQ Social Senior Tennis - Saturday 10th August

Thank you to all the members who played in this event and we are delighted that we raised  €1,546 for the Attracta O’Regan Phd Research Scholarship.   

Interpros

Tanya Murtagh and Aisling O' Connor were both part of the Leinster Team that took home the interpros title at the weekend. Leinster won all 3 matches versus the other provinces to tale the overall title. Well done guys!teams will be selected by the Tennis Committee and those not named on the team will be nominated as subs

Junior and Senior Open Results

Well done to Alex Lloyd who won the Men's Class 4 singles at the Castleknock Senior Open. Alex and Matthew McGreal made the semis of the men's Class 3 and 4 Doubles. Liz O’Connor and John Burke made the semis of the Class 3 and 4 mixed. 

Malahide Junior Open

Well done to Ciaran McKenna and Sally Flynn who won the mixed doubles U18s Malahide. Ciaran also made semis of the singles u16.

Conor Reamsbottom had a great run making the final of the Tour 200 u12 boys singles

Lucy Cahir made the final of the u14 doubles, Conor and Mae Murphy were 3rd in the u12 Mixed.

Generation Game 2024

34 pairings took part in the Generation Game on Sunday 11th August - great turnout and lots of fun tennis with a BBQ afterwards in the sunshine.  Great start to our 2024 Junior Club Championships

Tennis court booking

As the courts are getting busier with the summer season,  we ask players who book courts and cannot avail of their booking to cancel on the system.  This allows other members to book the canceled court.  Thank you for your cooperation

Tennis Camps

**Next Tennis Camp August 19th - 24th**  Camp full - Waiting list 

Our tennis camps are now live on smartclubcloud.com The Camps are open to members and non members aged 5 to 12. All levels can join. Non members can try tennis for the week and see if they like it. 

Camps run 9am - 1pm each day and are led by our professional coaches from Sutton LTC.

Junior Summer Programme 2024

We are really pleased to announce our Junior Summer Tennis programme is up and running since Monday 24th June

Ciaran McCarthy is our Junior Steward for the summer and the programme  will run every afternoon Monday-Friday  for the whole Summer with tennis activities for all ages

Update your Tournament Software Account

As our busy tennis calendar gets underway we are asking players and parents/guardians of our junior players  to log into their ti.tournament software accounts and check that all details ie Club, email address and mobile numbers are up-to-date.

In particular, please ensure that your mobile number is in the mobile number field in your account.  This will ensure that you will receive text updates during tournaments when necessary.

To change Club on your account please email info@tennisireland.ie to request a change to Sutton LTC from your previous club

Ladies Wednesday Morning Time Tennis 

Ladies Time Tennis is taking its summer break and finished up the summer season with tennis and lunch last week.    Time tennis resumes on Wednesday 4th September from 10am - 12 noon

Please see the hooks now provided for our clay court drag mats. Please leave them on the hooks after use to protect the bristles. 

If any member notices any issues with the courts ie broken net bands etc please report the fault to the office and it will be repaired.

Pilot Dublin Padel League

Dear Members, 

As was previously communicated in the July Management Committee report, a pilot Dublin Padel League is being set up for players over 18 years of age.

Following the meeting of various Club representatives within the Dublin area, the pilot league with 2 Divisions will start on Saturday 15th September. Matches will take place at 2pm on Saturday afternoons. Teams will be made up of 2 doubles pairings. Clubs are allowed to enter a maximum of 2 Mens and 2 Ladies teams.    In line with other Clubs taking part, only one Padel court in Sutton LTC will be allocated for Padel League matches.  Furthermore, in the absence of competition to ascertain players’ level, Clubs have agreed that for the pilot league, players are to be rotated on teams.    As with Squash and Tennis Leagues, each team will require a captain to manage the team and rotate the players and submit the results.

We have provisionally entered 2 Mens and 2 Ladies teams and we now invite members to sign up to participate in this league.

SENIOR SQUASH CALENDAR SUTTON

The Senior Squash Calendar will be available on the notice boards this week. It will include Round Robin dates, Squash Social Dates and other dates for your diary.

CONSIDERING SENIOR SQUASH LEAGUE

Each year we enter Senior Squash League Teams in the Leinster Squash Leagues Competition. Sutton pride themselves in the fact that we have committed and strong League Teams and featured for many years in the winning circle. We had a very successful season 2023/24 and hope to enter more teams this year.

Mens Teams are made up of 5 players and Ladies 4 players. It is a great opportunity to compete as a team in such an individual sport. Matches are Home and Away throughout Leinster and run from October until approximately March/April and it is followed by Cup Competition, which is a knockout system.

It is important to get commitments from players who will make themselves available for the matches each week both home and away. There are many divisions of different standards from Premier to Division 6.

JUNIOR SQUASH COACHING – FORMS OUT NOW

The Junior Squash Coaching forms are available now. Coaching starts the week beginning Monday 2nd September. Classes run on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 3.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m.

Course runs on a six week rollover basis at a cost of €65 for the six weeks.

Get your requests in early to avoid disappointment. Numbers are limited and standard based and payment must accompany form.
