Court changes in Courts 3, 4, 5 & 6
Please bear with us for another few days on these changes, it will be worth it in the end. Please note that this is a very active area with contractors moving in & out with heavy cumbersome materials and the areas of work can be hazardous at times, so please always exercise complete caution to avoid any slips, trips or falls. Likewise, please ask any children to refrain from climbing on the materials or entering the areas of work as well.
Upcoming Events
We have some upcoming events in the lounge for Squash (table quiz), Tennis (BBQ) and the Junior Champs, along with the Senior Open – we will communicate further information over the coming days… so watch this space for our much-loved cocktail & gin nights along with everything else!
Car Park
With the above events and the continuation of kid’s camps, training, coaching etc… we expect the car park and laneway to be very busy at times, so please observe the rules and remember not all people will be aware of the rules, so as the Take That song goes… “have a little patience”

Ladies O.60yrs DLTC League
DLTC are running a ladies O.60ys league in September starting on 4th Sept on Wednesdays at 11am.
The Tennis Committee would like to invite players who have not signed up already, interested in playing this league to email tennis@suttonltc.com by tomorrow Friday 9th August
Players need to be 60yrs or older by 31 December 202
Dates of matches: 11am on Wednesdays 4, 11, 18, 25 Sept and 2 October
Matches will be either played in Sutton or away in other competing clubs depending on how the DLTC schedule is published.
Mens O.65yrs DLTC League
DLTC are running a Mens O.65yrs league in September on Thursdays at 11am starting on 5th September.

Fundraiser for the Attracta O’Regan Phd Research Scholarship

On behalf of our longtime member Ultan Bannon and the extended Bannon family we are running a tennis fundraiser on 10th August to raise funds for the Attracta O’Regan Phd Scholarship for research into the early detection of ovarian cancer.

This research scholarship has been established in memory of Ultans lovely wife Attracta, much loved mum to Ian, Yvonne, Alecia and Cuan and member of SLTC who passed away in July 2023 from ovarian cancer.
In September 2024, Ultan is organising a group, including members of SLTC, who are embarking on a self-funded cycle from Paris to Nice to raise €150,000. All monies raised and donations received will go to fund this research scholarship

Junior Club Champs 2024
The biggest junior week of the summer runs from August 12th - 16th. We will make sure every kid gets loads of tennis no matter your level. The tournament runs from 10am - 5pm Monday to friday.
Every kid that enters gets a Tshirt & goody bag along with a Burger on finals day.

To kick off our Junior Club Champs, the Generation Game will take place from 2pm-4pm on Sunday 11th August.
This is a junior social event where a junior member plays with an adult - parents, grannys, grandads, aunts, uncles, older sibling (Over 18yrs) family friends all welcome!!!!

The Bar Committee have events planned for the week and we look forward to welcoming our members to support our Sutton LTC players, enjoy the top players competing at each level and to enjoy the events in the bar.
DLTC Mixed League Play-Offs
Our Mixed League team reached the playoffs in Class 2 and faced strong opposition last night, playing Celbridge away in Celbridge LTC.
Celbridge won the match and we wish them the best of luck in their next match

Tennis court booking
As the courts are getting busier with the summer season, we ask players who book courts and cannot avail of their booking to cancel on the system. This allows other members to book the cancelled court. Thank you for your cooperation

Private Lessons
The management committee have approved the addition of private lessons for individuals and/or groups, so contact your coach to arrange dates & times in advance of booking the court yourself. We also now allow 30-minute slots for all members convenience, just add on ‘extensions’ if you want more than 1 slot booking.

Sam Buckley won the IACT FITZWILLIAM PSA Challenge Open without dropping a game. Sam goes from strength to strength and will gain valuable PSA Ranking points.
Michael Creaven came 4th. Great to see some of our young juniors taking part in these tournaments giving themselves lots of experience.

ENTER HERESENIOR SQUASH CALENDAR SUTTON
The Senior Squash Calendar will be available on the notice boards this week. It will include Round Robin dates, Squash Social Dates and other dates for your diary.
CONSIDERING SENIOR SQUASH LEAGUE
Each year we enter Senior Squash League Teams in the Leinster Squash Leagues Competition. Sutton pride themselves in the fact that we have committed and strong League Teams and featured for many years in the winning circle. We had a very successful season 2023/24 and hope to enter more teams this year.
Mens Teams are made up of 5 players and Ladies 4 players. It is a great opportunity to compete as a team in such an individual sport. Matches are Home and Away throughout Leinster and run from October until approximately March/April and it is followed by Cup Competition, which is a knockout system.
It is important to get commitments from players who will make themselves available for the matches each week both home and away. There are many divisions of different standards from Premier to Division 6.

JUNIOR SQUASH CALENDAR SUTTON

JUNIOR SQUASH COACHING – FORMS OUT NOW
The Junior Squash Coaching forms are available now. Coaching starts the week beginning Monday 2nd September. Classes run on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 3.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m.
Course runs on a six week rollover basis at a cost of €65 for the six weeks.
Get your requests in early to avoid disappointment. Numbers are limited and standard based and payment must accompany form.

Gym
Body Transformation
A reminder to members that body transformation will return on Monday 12th August for 6 weeks. The big room will be used for this on Monday Wednesday & Fridays 7am-8am and therefore the room will be out of bounds for members using the gym during this time.
