Drive Slow
The Club is getting busier now with the schools beginning to break up and kid’s clubs & camps starting soon, so please SLOW DOWN in the car park and adhere to the 10kmh max speed limit at all times.
Club Driveway
We have had a few instances of irate people exiting the laneway and remonstrating to incoming cars – please notes the bye-laws for the laneway remain in place, the outgoing cars must yield to incoming cars from the main road, even if you have to reverse back up to allow them entry.Only 1 car should enter the laneway at a time to allow for exit.

We have events for all levels as long as you are 35 years or older!
Leinster Junior League
Sutton had 4 teams in finals last Sunday in the Leinster Junior League finals.
The U15 finals were hosted in Malahide and Sutton had 3 teams there. The Boys U15 capped off a great campaign with a win over a strong Glasnevin team. The U15 mixed final saw two Sutton teams face off against each other. The 1sts came out on top.
Sutton hosted the U18 finals. Our girls put up a great fight but came up short v Carrickmines.
Thanks to all the players who played across our 10 teams since the start of league in March. Thanks to all the parents who managed teams on match days and did all the driving! Thanks to Rob for coordinating all the teams

Entry open now! We have been running Junior Team Tennis for nearly 15 years and it’s always a brilliant event. Juniors of any level aged 7 - 17 can join. You will only play matches vs players similar level but you are part of a team with boys and girls of all ages. Every game you win goes to you team's total score
Our coaches are going to be the team managers! They'll be encouraging all their team to get their matches played and the losing coaches get soaked by the other teams on finals day!
Matches are arranged in your time. Players will get 5 matches along with Pizza party and prizes for winning team at the end.
Matches to be played by June 26th.
Super Seniors Intro to Padel at SLTC
We are delighted to offer members O.65 years of age, FREE Padel lessons to take advantage of and learn how to play our newest offering of Padel @ Sutton LTC. Classes will run twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11.13am. This initiative is funded by Age & Opportunity’s National Grant Scheme and will be expertly coached by our very own Peter Cranny. Rackets and balls will be supplied. Limited spaces
The first 3 sessions on 21st, 23rd and 28th May are fully subscribed and a further 3 dates will be released for booking on smartclubcloud.com on 21st May. The new dates are Thursday 30 May, Tuesday 4 June and Thursday 6 June
Due to the demand we ask that players sign up to just one FREE lesson per week to allow as many members as possible to avail of this chance to learn the basics of Padel.

Tennis Camps
Our tennis camps are now live on smartclubcloud.com The Camps are open to members and non members aged 5 to 12. All levels can join. Non members can try tennis for the week and see if they like it.
Camps run 9am - 1pm each day and are led by our professional coaches from Sutton LTC.

Junior Summer Programme 2024
We are really pleased to announce our Junior Summer Tennis programme is live and ready to sign up for on SmartClub Cloud now!!
Ciaran McCarthy is our Junior Steward for the summer and the programme will start on 24th June and will run every afternoon for the whole Summer

Super Senior Interprovincial Championships 2024
The 2024 Super Senior Interprovincials took place last week, hosted by Lansdowne LTC
SLTC were delighted have the following players selected for the Leinster Team
Sean O Dwyer (M80+), Corry de Jongh (W70+), Pat Dwyer (W65+) and Tom Barry (M65+)
Ulster retained their title this year beating Leinster by just 1 point.
However, we are happy to report that the Leinster Mens O.65+, captained by Tom Barry, and the Ladies O.65+ which featured Pat Dwyer won their age groups
O80 Super Masters team event
A Super Masters team event for O80yrs Men took place in Glenageary LTC last week and Sutton LTC were represented by Terry Donaghue, Sean O Dwyer and Joe Walsh
This is event was part of a series of events for Veterans organised by Michael Butler, Sandycove LTC
Junior Opens
Ciaran McKenna made another final, this time in Mullingar at the Tour 500 event. Ciaran knocked out the top seed in the but lost to Aniket Roy in the final. Jennifer O’ Connort made the semis of the girls U16s

We have some changes to our senior competition calendar this year. All your favorite comps are still there but note the dates now of the handicaps and the masters. In particular we are bringing the masters events into the warmer part of the year so all that great tennis will be played in warm sunshine now!

Update your Tournament Software Account
As our busy tennis calendar gets underway we are asking players and parents/guardians of our junior players to log into their ti.tournament software accounts and check that all details ie Club, email address and mobile numbers are up-to-date.
In particular, please ensure that your mobile number is in the mobile number field in your account. This will ensure that you will receive text updates during tournaments when necessary.
To change Club on your account please email info@tennisireland.ie to request a change to Sutton LTC from your previous club

Ladies Time Tennis resumes next Wednesday 10th April and is moving back to its original time of 10am -12noon

Please see the hooks now provided for our clay court drag mats. Please leave them on the hooks after use to protect the bristles.
If any member notices any issues with the courts ie broken net bands etc please report the fault to the office and it will be repaired.

SENIOR SQUASH
OH WHAT A NIGHT!
THE END OF SEASON SQUASH BASH brought us all together to celebrate a wonderful year of Squash in Sutton and an end to the Senior Squash Club Championships which took place last week.
We would like to thank Sean Carty of Connect Electronics for his very generous sponsorship once again.
It is obvious Garret Buckley does Events for a living as he always put a great night together.

The food was superb and supplied by KARACHI in Bayside Square, Music By Dave, thanks to the Bar Staff, Kate and Vandanna for all their help throughout the night. A big thanks to Martin Maher for the pictures during the week and on the night.
Thanks to Eoin Ryan who handicapped the matches as they went along and boy did he nail it. The matches went down to the bone. So Close. Great Event and we are delight to see its return after the missing Shield was returned a few months ago. Such an iconic Shield with great names engraved on it.

INCREDIBLE NIGHT AT THE AWARDS
Sutton Squash completed their Senior Season last night with an Award Ceremony to recognise Seniors and Juniors who stood out during the season.
Thanks to Gavin L'Estrange MC Extraordinaire who introduced all award winners.
We had a fabulous night and would like to share the award news with you. Lets congratulate them all.
[1] Eoin Ryan Trophy for contribution to Squash
This trophy goes to someone who is always ready to help out and volunteer without being prompted. Despite the fact that he lives beside the Club he turns up at the drop of the hat week in week out. Congratulations to Ronan Ryan
[2] SAM BUCKLEY – NATIONAL WINNER for 3rd year in a row
Sam Buckley has recently returned from the European Championships where he had the opportunity to play Top 10 world ranked players and he proved himself playing very competitive squash. He is travelling all over Europe taking part in PSA Events with great results and is currently 150 in the world, 57 points above any other Irish Mens Player.
Sam Buckley has won the National Championships for a 3rd year in a row which is an amazing achievement and we would like to acknowledge this achievement. Congratulations Sam

It was 12 years since an Irish Squash Premier Team gained promotion to Division 1. After gaining promotion last year they travelled to Zurich to play against the best in the world and treated us all to some superb squash. They will stay in the Div 1 for next year and we wish them the best of luck.

The Coaches Awards are presented to Juniors who show great Effort and Participation throughout the season. The 3 juniors selected have worked very hard and in a very short time made huge strides in the game and have shown amazing commitment to training.

We had an amazing culmination to the Irish Squash Season with the Nationals held in Dublin. Sutton LTC had 3 winners who won their respective National Titles. We would like to acknowledge their achievement.

[6] IRISH JUNIOR OPEN
Each year we welcome Juniors from all over the world to take part in the Irish Squash Junior Open and we have the opportunity to watch Squash at a very high level. We are also very proud when one of our Irish Players take an Irish Open Title. Congratulations to Zoe Yeomans on her Irish Open Win.
[6] Most Improved U/13 Junior Squash Player of the Year
We presented this award to an U/13 Junior who has made great strides improving her Squash and climbing up the Irish Ranking in as very short time. Saibh put in a great amount of work between on-court training a few times a week along with Strength and Conditioning and we wish her all the best for the seasons to come. Congratulations to Saibh Darcy
[7] Bradshaw Trophy for Overall most Improved Player – Zoe Yeomans
This Awards was presented to a player who has shown outstanding determination and dedication over a number of years.
She has travelled all over Europe playing in Super Series Events and maintained her no: 1 spot U/17 on the Irish Squash ranking this season.
Zoe won the Irish Squash Nationals and the Irish Junior Open which is a very memorable double. Lots more exciting years ahead. Congratulations Zoe Yeomans

The Club Championships are in full swing from 20th – 24th May with Finals on Friday early evening followed by presentation of prizes in Sutton Lounge. All welcome to come along and watch great Squash from U/11 to U/19 standard.

Due to the high numbers of no shows in our classes the following procedure will be in place to try and combat the no shows.
No show 1: Email notification/Warning reminder to cancel
No show 2: Final warning
No show 3: Block from classes for 7 days
