Tennis & Padel 7pm-9pm followed by music in the bar provided by The Lighthouse Boys

Organised Tennis and an opportunity for players to try Padel from 7pm-9pm.   All standards catered for.  

Format:   Tennis organised by our Captains Susan Bracken and Conor McAvoy and during the evening you will get an opportunity to try Padel on our new courts.  Padel racquets and balls provided

Adjourn to the bar afterwards where music will be provided by The Lighthouse Boys.   Members not signing up for the Tennis & Try Padel are welcome to join us in the bar.   No sign up required

Super Seniors Intro to Padel at SLTC

We are delighted to offer members O.65 years of age, FREE Padel lessons to take advantage of and learn how to play our newest offering of Padel @ Sutton LTC.   Classes will run twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11.13am.   This initiative is funded by Age & Opportunity’s National Grant Scheme and will be expertly coached by our very own Peter Cranny.  Rackets and balls will be supplied.  Limited spaces

The first 3 sessions on 21st, 23rd and 28th May are fully subscribed and a further 3 dates will be released for booking on smartclubcloud.com on  21st May.    The new dates are Thursday 30 May, Tuesday 4 June and Thursday 6 June

Due to the demand we ask that players sign up to just one FREE lesson per week to allow as many members as possible avail of this chance to learn the basics of Padel.

Junior Summer Programme 2024

Leinster O.70 Team at SLTC

We were pleased to welcome another Inter Pro team to SLTC for practice this week.    Pat Dwyer will be representing Leinster in the upcoming Inter Provincials  hosted by Lansdowne LTC this weekend.

ITF Masters World Tennis Championships in Mexico

The Irish Ladies O.50yrs+ team competed in the Maria Esther Bueno Cup in the ITF Masters World Tennis Championships in Mexico.    The team was captained by our own Heidi Higgins.   Heidi finished on a high winning her play-off doubles against Finland.

Congratulations to Lucas Mc Hugh who won the U16 Boys Tour 100 event last Sunday

Emma Hickey won the U14 Doubles in Larkspur Park and made the semis of the singles.    Emma also travelled to Castlebar where she won the U14 Tour 500 doubles event and made the finals of the U14 singles

Lucy Cahir reached the semis of the Castleknock Tour 200

Congratulations to Ciaran McKenna who won the U16 Tour 1000 doubles in Castleknock

Jacques McHugh and Max Miller reached the final of the U14 Tour 1000 doubles

We have some changes to our senior competition calendar this year. All your favourite comps are still there but note the dates now of the handicaps and the masters. In particular we are bringing the masters events into the warmer part of the year so all that great tennis will be played in warm sunshine now!

Update your Tournament Software Account

As our busy tennis calendar gets underway we are asking players and parents/guardians of our junior players  to log into their ti.tournament software accounts and check that all details ie Club, email address and mobile numbers are up-to-date.

In particular, please ensure that your mobile number is in the mobile number field in your account.  This will ensure that you will receive text updates during tournaments when necessary.

To change Club on your account please email info@tennisireland.ie to request a change to Sutton LTC from your previous club

Ladies Wednesday Morning Time Tennis 

Ladies Time Tennis resumes next Wednesday 10th April and is moving back to its original time of 10am -12noon

Please see the hooks now provided for our clay court drag mats. Please leave them on the hooks after use to protect the bristles. 

If any member notices any issues with the courts ie broken net bands etc please report the fault to the office and it will be repaired.

Its May already and time to wrap up the Squash Season and what a season it was!

The finale is the Senior and Junior Club Champs starting with the Senior Club Champs.

There is a section for all and we hope you will enter. The finals will take place on Saturday followed by dinner, the presentation of the Annual Awards and MUSIC.

SENIOR EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS – FINAL UPDATE

Ireland fell to Czech Republic in a battle on the last morning.

Sam Buckley took the first match against Viktor Byrtus 3/0

Micheal Creaven had chances and played well taking the second game but despite his efforts he lost 1/3.

This has been an amazing experience for our boys and we hope they take lots of positives from it. They played superb squash against Top ranking world players and should be optimistic about their Squash futures. They are young and have many more chances. They will NOT be relegated for next year so we look forward to seeing them grow as a team.

We hope they enjoyed the week as much as we did.

Category for all standards plus the return of our historic HandiCap Event.

All matches will be scheduled and courts assigned. If you have any restriction please let us know before draw is completed, however especially if you are entering 2 events you will have to be available throughout the week.

Players can enter 2 sections. Junior age 14 or up and can only enter Mens A and B or Ladies A.

ESF European Mixed Team u15 & u17 Squash Championships 2024

The Irish Squash Junior Teams head to Porto in Portugal to take part in the U/15 and U/17 European Team Championships.

Sutton are delighted to have 5 Juniors represent Ireland.

The U/15 team have Poland, Switzerland and Norway in their Pool Group and the first match is against Switzerland on Thursday at 10.00 a.m.

The U/17 team have Czech Republic, Poland, Germany and Greece in their Pool Group and their first match is against Czech Republic at 14.00 p.m. on Thursday

SUMMER SQUASH TRAINING DATES

The Summer Intensive OFF-SEASON training dates are out.

Full details will be available soon. This is a 4 Day camps. It is a great way to prepare for the coming season, improve your fitness, technical skills, match play. dates as follows

August 12^th – 16^th (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri)

August 19^th – 23^rd (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri)
