Senior Spring Championships Finals

The Senior Spring Championships came to a close last Friday with some fantastic tennis and finally some nice weather!

Well done to Ali O’ Dea and Brendan Mulligan who won the Ladies and Men's Championship singles respectively. Ali won against Jennifer O’ Connor who did incredibly well to reach her first senior final on her debut in the event. 

Brendan Mulligan defeated William Kell in the Mens final in what proved to be not only the last match of the week but also our best one. William looked to be in control of the match after taking the first, but Brendan dug deep to fight back and win in a 3rd set tie break.

Well done to the 94 players who took part and made it a great week. Thanks to Orna, Rob, our captains Conor, Susan, Dave and Joanna for all the organization that goes into running the event. Thanks to our bar staff who ran a brilliant cocktail night on the Thursday. Well done to Susan Bracken, Conor McAvoy and Kate Yeomans who stepped up o hit a serve in front of the crowd!

Junior Summer Programme 2024

We are really pleased to announce our Junior Summer Tennis programme is live and ready to sign up for on SmartClub Cloud now!! 

Ciaran McCarthy is our Junior Steward for the summer and the programme will start on 24th June and will run every afternoon for the whole Summer

Cost €25 for the whole summer - great value!!

Senior Opens

Well done to Tom Barry who won the Mens 65 Singles  and 60 doubles at the Tour 1000 event in Naas. Tom went through both draws without dropping a set. Two more trophies to add to Tom's already packed Trophy cabinet! 

Congratulations to Nessa Goodman who reached the final of the Class 5 & Below Mixed doubles partnered by her nephew Rory Goodman (Charleville LTC).  Anthony Loreau reached the semi-finals of the Mens Class 4 & Below Singles and narrowly missed out on a spot in the final losing in a close championship tie-break in the semi-final

Up next for our Juniors is Castleknock this weekend. The tour 1000 and 200 event will both have some Sutton interest

Our U12 boys made it through to the play offs with a win over Carlow. Thanks to Andrea Timmons for managing the team. Our Girls U15 picked up a win vs Donnybrook and our U12 girls also had a win in Glenageary.

We have some changes to our senior competition calendar this year. All your favorite comps are still there but note the dates now of the handicaps and the masters. In particular we are bringing the masters events into the warmer part of the year so all that great tennis will be played in warm sunshine now!

Senior Open  August 17th - 24th

Senior Club Champs Aug 31st - September 14th

Update your Tournament Software Account

As our busy tennis calendar gets underway we are asking players and parents/guardians of our junior players  to log into their ti.tournament software accounts and check that all details ie Club, email address and mobile numbers are up-to-date.

In particular, please ensure that your mobile number is in the mobile number field in your account.  This will ensure that you will receive text updates during tournaments when necessary.

To change Club on your account please email info@tennisireland.ie to request a change to Sutton LTC from your previous club

Ladies Wednesday Morning Time Tennis 

Ladies Time Tennis resumes next Wednesday 10th April and is moving back to its original time of 10am -12noon

All ladies welcome and we hope to see lots of new faces, especially new members during February

Please see the hooks now provided for our clay court drag mats. Please leave them on the hooks after use to protect the bristles. 

If any member notices any issues with the courts ie broken net bands etc please report the fault to the office and it will be repaired.

SENIOR EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Irish Squash Senior team will travel to Zurich, Switzerland next Tuesday to take part in the European Squash Championships Top Division.

The team is entirely made up of Sutton Squash Players who have earned their places from ranking points gained throughout the season at Irish Squash Tour Events.

ONCE AGAIN, We are so delighted to say that all players are from Sutton LTC and Eoin Ryan is their coach.

We will keep you updated as they go. This will be a fantastic experience for our young team who will play some of the best players in the world.

Category for all standards plus the return of our historic HandiCap Event.

All matches will be scheduled and courts assigned. If you have any restriction please let us know before draw is completed, however especially if you are entering 2 events you will have to be available throughout the week.

Players can enter 2 sections. Junior age 14 or up and can only enter Mens A and B or Ladies A.

Cost:

€30 for Adult entry plus Dinner

€20 for Junior Entry, No Dinner

The Summer Intensive OFF-SEASON training dates are out.

Full details will be available soon. This is a 4 Day camps. It is a great way to prepare for the coming season, improve your fitness, technical skills, match play. dates as follows

Gym Classes

A reminder to all members that they should cancel their space in gym classes if they are not attending and to do so in a timely manner. Going forward there will be a sign in process at the beginning of classes to ensure members are respecting the booking system and the process in place.
