National Indoor Championships

Well done to Ailsing O’ Connor, William Kell and Tanya Murtagh who all made semi finals at the National Indoor Championships held in Fitzwilliam at the end of December. Ailsing made the singles and doubles semi finals. William had a great run to the semis coming through unseeded. Tanya with partner Caragh Courtney lost a tight semi final in the ladies doubles.

Good luck to Eoin Quinn, Ciaran McKenna, Gavin Murphy and Emma Hickey who all play in the junior event starting this weekend. 

Christmas Breakfast Doubles 28 December

Thanks to Michael Byrne who once again ran a very successful Christmas breakfast doubles

This year we celebrated the 27th year of our post Christmas tennis breakfast event with 84 members taking part.    Our tennis players battled blustery conditions on the courts and were joined for breakfast by our senior snooker players who were celebrating Kieran O Mara’s 90th birthday on the morning.

Ladies Wednesday Morning Time Tennis -  new January time

Ladies Time Tennis is taking a break for Christmas and will resume on Wednesday 10th January at the new time of 11am - 1pm.    

This time change is to accommodate trial access for this official Club Event to indoor courts for a 4 week period after which the trial will be reviewed.

All ladies welcome and we hope to see lots of new faces in January

Davis Cup

Tickets for the Davis Cup fixture between Ireland & Austria sold out in record time and we hope some of our members were lucky enough to get tickets.   If we get news of a further ticket release we will let you know.

Junior Christmas Round Robins

The round robins are posted under the “leagues” tab on sltc.mycourts.co.uk. Players who complete all their matches go into a draw for prizes! Matches to be played by January 8th. Well done to all who have played so far. We will be continuing with round robins for juniors of all levels right through the year.

Please see the hooks now provided for our clay court drag mats. Please leave them on the hooks after use to protect the bristles. 

If any member notices any issues with the courts i.e. broken net bands etc please report the fault to the office and it will be repaired.
