Irish Squash Junior Open 2023
We are very excited in the Club to host the Irish Junior Open 2023 this weekend from Thursday 16th to 19th November (inclusive). Plans & arrangements have been in place for many weeks now in order to make a very enjoyable weekend for all players, members, visitors and spectators alike.
Please note, that the Club will be very busy all weekend so be careful in the entry laneway for oncoming traffic and while on the premises for pedestrians crossing the car park. We will have a registration & administration desk manned in the lobby for the entire weekend, so please do not leave any belongings on the floors, or in the corridors at any time - any items that are left on the floors are a trip hazard for others and will be removed to the Junior room for collection.
The lounge & bar will be hosting visiting players and families all weekend, so please bear this in mind when visiting the Club... remember be welcoming & hospitable as we always are by extending our 'céad mile failte' to all. Our volunteer bar staff will be on-hand and will be hosting one of our 'cocktail' nights on Friday 17th November from 8pm onwards.... don't miss out!
Finally, we have many players from SLTC playing and some great travelling players leading up to some exciting games throughout the weekend, so please do drop by and show your support at some stage over the weekend.Club lounge
All members to be aware that Suttonians Hockey Club Pub Quiz & Raffle Fundraiser will be held in the club lounge on Saturday 25th November, from 7pm.
Changing Rooms
There will be shower works ongoing this coming week to regulate the shower temperature, please bear with us during this time.
Car Park
When parents/minders are entering/leaving the carpark please do so with caution, do not speed through as there are a lot of children on the premises for after school Tennis/Squash coaching.
Membership cards
There are still some members yet to collect their membership cards from the office. Please call into Andrea between the hours below to collect or order a new one if needed.

The finals of our last SLTC tournament of the year took place last Thursday, Friday and Saturday with 12 finals being played

Winter League starts on Sunday 21st January and the round robin stage runs for 5 weeks on the following dates:
Jan 21st, 28th, Feb 11th, 18th, 25th
DLTC Winter League is for Senior Sports, Intermediate & Senior Intermediate members. Junior players aged 14yrs + on 31 December 2023 are also eligible to play.
This is a competitive interclub doubles league with 6 players on a team.
Matches are played in Sutton LTC or away in other clubs on the date and time on the schedule which is published by DLTC.
Men's Matches - Sundays 11am & 9.20am
Women's Matches - Sundays 2pm & 3pm
Players should be available for 4 out of 5 round robin matches. Players not named on a team will be registered as a substitute.
Teams are selected in order of merit and SLTC have teams from Class 1 - Class 7 in both men's & ladies winter league.
Juniors turning 15 in 2024 are now eligible for our Senior teams

Courts & equipment on court
Please see the hooks now provided for our clay court drag mats. Please leave them on the hooks after use to protect the bristles.
If any member notices any issues with the courts ie broken net bands etc please report the fault to the office and it will be repaired.
Ladies Wednesday Morning Time Tennis
Ladies Time Tennis will be taking a break for August and will resume in September.

On the back of the LA28 Olympics inclusion news and a terrific performance in the @esf_squash 2023 European Team Championships, gaining promotion to Division 1, team Ireland will be looking to showcase their skillset on a global stage.

New Irish Squash Policy on playing squash and understanding the rules:
To enhance player safety and enjoyment it is Irish Squash policy to recommend to all squash players that they have a sufficient level of understanding of the Rules of Squash that they would achieve a WSO Level 0 qualification. For those who play competitively it is recommended that they achieve a Level 1 WSO qualification.

You may have noticed the Flags in the Lobby of the club! We are looking forward to welcoming Junior Squash Players from 19 countries to Sutton to take part in the European Event Irish Squash Junior Open.
138 Juniors of which 46 are Sutton Players will treat us to superb squash. Everyone is welcome to drop down to watch the matches and support our players.
