Sutton LTC Senior Championships 2023  sponsored by O Hare O Dwyer Solicitors

Our Senior Championships sponsored by O Hare O Dwyer Solicitors came to an end at the weekend. We had 128 players take part across 22 events. Huge thank you to our Men's Captain Patrick Nolan who ran the event and scheduled every single match along with playing himself. Thanks to our Ladies Captain Susan Hunter who arranged DJ Billy Scully to make it a memorable At Home night on finals day.

Well done to our two championship winners Aisling O’ Connor and William Kell. Aisling won her 4th singles title beating Jean Loughney in the final. Jean at only 15 was making her first final appearance. William beat Rob Turpin in the final of the men's making it two years in a row for him. 

Well done to all the finalists this year, and to everyone who supported the event.

Senior Inter-pros Friday 15th - Sunday 17th September

Sutton members Barbara Reamsbottom, Brendan Mulligan and Yvonne Lawlor all  represented Leinster in their respective age categories at the inter pros in Limerick last weekend. The Leinster team proved too strong for the other provinces taking home the overall title.

Hospice Coffee Morning Wednesday 20th September

Thanks to Anne Maguire and her army of volunteeers who ran the coffee morning for the Hospice on Wednesday. Over 2000 euro was raised for this very worthy cause. 

DLTC Senior League

We are 3 weeks into DLTC senior league. 2 more weeks to go. Our Ladies 1st had a good win over Portmarnock picking up all 3 points.

Courts & equipment on court

Please see the hooks now provided for our clay court drag mats. Please leave them on the hooks after use to protect the bristles. 

If any member notices any issues with the courts ie broken net bands etc please report the fault to the office and it will be repaired.

Ladies Wednesday Morning Time Tennis

Ladies Time Tennis will be taking a break for August and will resume in September.

SENIOR SQUASH

BREANNE HEADS TO GERMANY

Squash season is in full swing again and Breanne Flynn heads to Böblingen, Germany to play in the Schräglage Squash PSA Open.

Seeded No:6 Breanne gets a bye in the first round and awaits results to see who her 1st opponent will be.

Ranked 129 on the PSA World Squash Rankings, Breanne hopes to earn valuable points to progress climbing the ladder.

SAM PLAYS IN SPRINGFIELD

Sam Buckley will play in the Springfield Scottish Squash PSA Open starting Thursday 21^st. This is a $12,000 prize draw. Sam is seeded no:8 and took on Anthony Lepper from New Zealand this morning and won 3/0 (11/7, 11/8, 11/9). He will now play Ben Smith No: 2 seed from England in the Top 8 place.

Ranked 136 on the PSA World Squash Rankings, Sam continues to progress climbing the ladder.

Open to all members, drop down from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. to hit with others every Saturday. Meet new people to play Squash.

URGENT - SENIOR SQUASH LEAGUE

Each year we enter Senior Squash League Teams in the Leinster Squash Leagues Competition. Sutton pride themselves in the fact that we have committed and strong league teams and featured for many years in the winning circle.

Covid played a part in a fall off but we hope to return to our strength and plan to enter teams in the League for September/October. 

Men's Teams are made up of 5 players and Ladies 4 players. It is a great opportunity to compete as a team in such an individual sport. Matches are Home and Away throughout Leinster and run until approximately March/April and it is followed by Cup Competition, which is a knockout system. 

It is important to get commitments from players who will make themselves available for the matches each week both home and away. There are many divisions of different standards from Premier to Division 6.
