Our biggest Senior Open of the last few years attracted almost 400 players from all over Ireland. A huge thank you to our sponsor Adrian Dunne Pharmacy for being so generous in their support.

The tournament only runs through the incredible hard work of Roma Hegarty as our Tournament Director. Big thank you to our mens captain Patrick Nolan who took the referee duty for the week. Conor Mckenna and Carmel O’ Hare stepped in to give Patrick a night off. Thank to Orna, the tennis committee and all the volunteers on the ground and the bar staff that made it such a great week.

The big Sutton successes were Aisling O’ Connor winning the ladies championship singles, William Kell pushing top seed Amaar Elamin right to the wire in the mens final. Aisling McGoldrick took home the ladies Class 2 title with Carmel and partner Una Mcentee reaching the final of the championship doubles.

All matches are scheduled by the Tennis Committee from 6th September until Finals Day on Saturday 16th September. All finalists must be available to play finals on Saturday 16th September. A final may be scheduled, if required by the Tennis Committee, for Friday 15th September also. Finalists must be available on this date also.

Players with limited availability should mark this at the time of entry 

Join us on Thursday 7th Sept for a Tie-break Tens event which is included in entry . Followed by a Consolation Event on Thursday 14th September for first round losers

After a sellout Wimbledon and Mundy evening, we will end the Championship fortnight with our annual At Home BBQ on Saturday 16th September, and for the first time in a long time, a DISCO with the legendary DJ Billy Scurry. Tickets €25 on sale through smartclub via the following link

Summer Programme Finale featuring Colm Dawson’s Family Magic Show

Over 130 kids have already signed up! It's going to be a big finish to the summer!

Our busy summer programme will finish at the end of next week on Friday 1st September with fun and games on court at 4pm followed by Pizza and the Colm Dawson’s Family Magic Show 

Colm returns to SLTC with his family style show for all ages.

4pm - 5.30pm Kids Tennis & Pizza

6pm Colm Dawson will be on stage with his Magic Show

After the Show Colm will do some close up magic in the bar

Junior Opens

Well done to Emma Hickey who rounded off her summer with another final this time in the Tour 1000 at the Ulster Hardcourt championships. Emma finishes the summer ranked no. 7 in singles and no. 1 in doubles. 

Emily Fitzgibbon reached her first Open final in the Tour 100 event in DCU. A great achievement for all the work she put in during the last year.

We will start our squad programme again in September as we build on this summers success and hope to have even more kids competing in open tournaments over the next year. If you want to get involved contact Rob Turpin

Coaching Team

Best of luck to Isobel O’ Flaherty and Conor McKenna as they move abroad to Manchester and Boston to take on new adventures. Isobel and Conor have been a big part of our coaching team the last few years as well as helping with so many events and special nights in the club.

It's definitely not a goodbye as both will be back to Ireland for visits over next year! Good luck guys!

We are also delighted to announce Tanya Murtagh is joining our team for this September. As a coach Tanya already has years of experience as a lead coach with the Leinster Performance programme. As a player she is a national champion at junior and senior level. 

As many will already know, Victoria Gaidau is also joining our team after working in Elm Park the last 6 years. Victoria comes with over 10 years experience coaching players of all levels. She will be involved in our junior and senior programme from September

Senior Tennis Coaching

The first adult classes are now live. Our morning classes will start the week of September 11th and our evening classes the week of September 18th. Evening classes will be available next week online

Victoria Gaidau has joined our team and will be running our Cardio Tennis Classes from September. These classes will start on the week of September 11th and the week of September 18th.

Courts & equipment on court

Please see the hooks now provided for our clay court drag mats. Please leave them on the hooks after use to protect the bristles. 

If any member notices any issues with the courts ie broken net bands etc please report the fault to the office and it will be repaired.

Ladies Wednesday Morning Time Tennis

Ladies Time Tennis will be taking a break for August and will resume in September.

Each year we enter Senior Squash League Teams in the Leinster Squash Leagues Competition. Sutton pride themselves in the fact that we have committed and strong league teams and featured for many years in the winning circle.

Covid played a part in a fall off but we hope to return to our strength and plan to enter teams in the League for September/October. 

Mens Teams are made up of 5 players and Ladies 4 players. It is a great opportunity to compete as a team in such an individual sport. Matches are Home and Away throughout Leinster and run until approximately March/April and it is followed by Cup Competition, which is a knockout system. 

It is important to get commitments from players who will make themselves available for the matches each week both home and away. There are many divisions of different standards from Premier to Division 6.

Body Transformation:

Due to the high demand for the body transformation we have added an extra time slot of 11am. The additional block will begin on Monday 18th of September and will run for 6 weeks. The days will be Monday, Wednesday & Fridays.

We have 1 space left in the 7am slot which also runs on Monday, Wednesday & Fridays.
