Leinster Tennis Junior League - U12 and U18 Finals

3 finals and 2 titles for our Junior teams!

What a weekend for our juniors in the Leinster Junior League finals!

U18 boys 1sts had a big win over Clontarf beating them 2/1. Ciarán McKenna took the champ TB with the tie level at one match each

The U18 mixed team took the victory over Blackrock. Our U12 girls 1sts lost narrowly 2/1 to Celbridge.

Congratulations to all of our teams throughout the league for doing a great job representing the club and playing an outstanding campaign

Padel Tennis at Fitzwilliam LTC

On Tuesday 30th May members of SLTC went to Fitzwilliam LTC to try out Padel Tennis. The feed back from members has been excellent.  Thank you to Lady Captain Susan Hunter,  Peter Cranny who is a member of SLTC and a qualified Padel coach and Mike Kemp of Fitzwilliam LTC for coordinating the event.

Mixed League 2023 - Sign Up

This is a very enjoyable inter-club DLTC Mixed League which is played on Friday evenings during July & August.   Each team consists of 3 mixed doubles pairings. All players must be 18yrs or older by 31 December 2022. Matches are played at home in Sutton and away in other clubs as determined by the DLTC schedule

Round Robin Match dates:  Fridays 7th, 14th, 21st & 28th July. Wed 2 August

Players should be available for 4 out of 5 round robin matches.

There are three classes in Mixed League:

Class 1: for players who have not played higher than Class 3 Summer League 2023

Class 2: for players who have not played higher than Class 5 Summer League 2023

Class 3: for players who have not played higher than Class 7 Summer League 2023

DLTC also take into account the position players have subbed in when determining eligibility for each class.

DLTC Summer League

4 weeks down 1 to go. The ladies 1sts picked up a valuable 3 points v Templeogue. The ladies 2nds continue to dominate their group in class 2 with another win to stay top of their group. The mens 2nds picked up 4 points vs Shankhill to get their campaign back on track. The mens 5ths also picked up 4 points to move 2nd in their group.

The number of courts reserved on the booking system is weather dependent as the Clay courts may not be playable in rainy conditions.  When 10 courts are required for home matches, the 11th surplus court will be returned to the booking system when the weather allows

Northside Stars and Stripes

2 wins from 2 at the weekend with our Boys and Girls teams both taking home the shield in the final. We give lots of the kids the chance to play for their club in this league and this campaign was no different with 22 juniors playing in total over the 6 matches.

Junior Team Tennis

Teams will be up Friday June 2nd. You will see the groups on sltc.mycourts.co.uk. Finals day will be July 7th. 

Schools Tennis

Congratulations to the St. Fintans Boys Senior team who took home the schools division 2 title. All of the lads are Sutton members. The team is managed by another Sutton member Johanna Garry who teaches in the school. This made 2 school cup titles in a week for Fintans

Peninsula Cup

On Tuesday we held our annual Peninsula Cup. This year we had 4 of the local schools competing. The Burrow, Sutton Park, Scoil Mhuire, and Bayside. We had 104 kids playing tennis in glorious sunshine for over 4 hrs! In the end The Burrow came out as winners with Bayside picking up the Shield. Big thank you to Pauline Loughney, Helen Holden and all the teachers from all the schools who helped make it a great day for the kids. Thank you to Supervalue Sutton who sponsored the refreshments.   We had so many kids who were playing their first tennis competition alongside the kids we see play every day in the club. Rob and Orna ran the tennis on the day.

Ladies Wednesday Morning Time Tennis

This social tennis takes place every Wednesday morning at 10am and caters for all level of player.  All existing members and new members  welcome.

Are you a new member, new to tennis, returning to tennis or want to enjoy organised games  - this is the ideal place to take up your racquet and meet other members of SLTC

Our volunteer member, Carmel Gillespie, is on hand every wednesday to organise the tennis from 10am-12pm.   Tennis is followed by tea/coffee and all are welcome.

Sutton enjoyed an incredible day of squash filled with finals and playoff matches in our Squash Junior Club Championships.

It is important to acknowledge our wonderful juniors. It was a pleasure to see them fill the corridors and courts and so well behaved.
