    Thank you for your understanding.

Dermot Quinn's Book 'My Serve' - few copies available for sale from the office

    Dear members,

Dermot Quinn’s ‘My Serve – the Story of Sutton Lawn Tennis Club’ was launched to a large turnout which included the Quinn families, members and other interested friends. It was a special opportunity to pay tribute to Dermot and the very special contribution of his brother Brendan. Between them, the two brothers served on the Management committee for 95 years!

The attendance included many members who have volunteered and contributed to the club’s development over the years. One member said he counted ten persons who had served in the role of President. If anyone has photos capturing the atmosphere we would love to see them.

Most of the copies printed were purchased on the night. There are some left which are available from the office.

Airhall booking policy and bye law changes Reminder

    Dear Members,

The Airhall is a wonderful resource for the Club, and is in high demand. In order to promote opportunities for wider and fairer usage of the Airhall when Bradshaw 1 and 2 are covered during the winter months, the Management Committee have approved the following rules:

    1. Members are permitted a maximum of 3 hours of play per week (a week is defined as Monday to Sunday inclusive, and court usage counts for all members are reset each Monday).
    2. A member cannot play in two consecutive time slots even if the time slots are booked by an opponent in singles or separate players from a doubles partnership.
    3. Members must name all players on their court bookings and the member making the booking must be on court.

Please note we advise all the members when booking private coaching sessions to ensure they add their coaches as opponents in the following format “Coach Jane Smith” - in order to provide transparency to members.

Players are requested to respect their fellow members and adhere to this policy for the winter months. The policy has been incorporated into the Tennis Court Booking Bye-Laws section of the Club constitution.

Bookings will be reviewed for infringements on a regular basis based on booking data extracts. The following sanctions will apply during the course of this Airhall season for infringements of the rules:
    • Infringement 1: Warning by email, followed up by telephone.
    • Infringement 2: Member loses all booking and playing privileges for 1 week (no access to tennis, squash or gym classes).
    • Infringement 3: Member loses all booking and playing privileges for 1 month (no access to tennis, squash or gym classes).
    • Infringement 4: Member will be a subject of a formal complaint for breach of club rules which will be referred to the Club Hearings Committee who may consider additional sanctions.

Members please note - limitations of the MyCourts booking system do not allow:
    • automated checking of booking counts at time of booking
    • restriction of booking privileges to tennis courts only

To report an issue regarding the Airhall, members should email the Club at Airhall@suttonltc.com. If a last-minute substitute is required for a doubles game in the Airhall, this should be reported by the booking member in an email to the above address. If you have not listed all of your opponents you can email the Club at Airhall@suttonltc.com within 3 days of the booking.

These rules came into force for Airhall bookings from Monday 31 October onwards. A number of infringements have already been issued. Please ensure you respect all the rules.

    Yours in tennis,

    Sutton LTC Tennis Committee

3 FINALISTS IN THE IRISH SQUASH JUNIOR OPEN 2022

If you didn’t make it to Sutton last weekend you missed an amazing weekend of Squash. For those of you who did drop in you would have been welcomed by a Club House and Squash Courts full of visitors from 18 countries all over the world.

The Event was run by Rhonda Moran and Kate Yeomans with many visiting Referees and Eugene Walker as Tournaments Director. The Tournament ran smoothly and we had nothing but compliments from all those who took part. Thanks to everyone responsible.

The standard of Squash was superb and we were delighted to have 3 players contest the finals.

Dylan Moran lost the Boys U/19 in a very tight and explosive squash match of brilliant rallies and technique. Dylan was pipped at the post.

Conal Jackson was beaten by the Scotish No:1 seed John Green and Toby Holman Keogh lost to the No:1 Boys U/13 seed Gustavo Cruz from Portugal.
