Elva Mc Cormack – Notice of resignation & Invitation to the Farewell ceremony Friday 30 Sep @ 2:30pm
Dear members, It is with regret that we announce that our lovely office administrator Elva Mc Cormack has decided that the time has come for her to take her leave from the Club. Elva joined SLTC in June 2003 where she thought she would stay for a year or two but as she said herself “I sort of forgot to leave” Elva now has 2 little great nephews and 3 little great nieces, and she feels she will be called on for baby minding duties. She is so looking forward to spending more time with them before they find her boring which we very much doubt!! Elva also fills her time with walking in the Wicklow hills and abroad, cycling, playing tennis, gardening to name just a few. We all wish her well and we are forever grateful for her time given to the Club. Hopefully she will still find the time to come and visit us. Elva’s last day in work will be Friday 30 September. Following her final shift the Club has organised a farewell do in the lounge at 2:30pm. There will be some food and refreshments. You are more than welcome to join us in celebration of Elva’s extraordinary service to the Club. Elva you will be missed!

Senior Club Championships sponsored by O Hare O Dwyer Solicitors
Club Championships and Handicap events came to a conclusion at the weekend. Well done to all our winners and runners-up. Thanks to O’ Hare and O’ Dwyer Soliciters for their continuing sponsorship of the Club Champs. We had some great feedback on running the champs over two weeks so thanks to Pat Nolan for taking on all the organisation. Thanks to Orna, Rob, Ajay, Linda and Susan who helped with the running of the event. Thanks to Greg, John and Conor for doing the BBQ, Colm and all the bar staff and to our two umpires Micheal Byrne and Susan Hunter.
Well done to our two championship singles winners Aisling O’ Connor and William Kell. Aisling won her 3rd title after a battle with Ali O’ Dea in the final. William Kell became one of our youngest winners on the men's side beating Ed King.

September Junior Coaching
Junior Coaching started this week. Most groups are full with a waiting list. We have spaces in our Wednesday 2pm class for any 5 or 6 year olds.
Junior Opens
Congrats to Emma Hickey who was a finalist in the Tour 500 event in St. Anne's in Waterford. Emma came through some tough matches and fought hard in the final vs top seed Nel Berdychowska. Lucy Cahir also competed and had a great win in her opening round
Senior Round Robins
New groups are now posted online under the leagues tab. We can still take entries for the Mens Doubles Round Robin. Matches to be played by October 31st.
Senior Coaching
Adult coaching started this week. There’s a few spaces left in some classes
Coaches Corner
If you are normally a doubles player but you’re two players short for a game one week don’t cancel. Play crosscourt singles only using the one side each rather than the full court. This way you can replicate a lot of situations that happen on a doubles court
Junior League
Good start for our junior teams last weekend. 2 wins out of 2 on the girls side.

ENTER HERESQUASH SHOES AND OTHER RULES
We must remind players that Shoes with Black Soles are not permitted even if they say NON MARKING. Check you Racket Grips are in good condidtion, If they are old they disintegrate and will shed onto the floor and permanently mark them.
Also we have had to remove chewing Gum, Stones, Food and other damaging items from the courts. It is very important that we respect the courts and refrain from bringing food, drinks and dirt on court.
LASTLY, some Juniors are NOT wearing their Squash Goggles on court!!!! It is so important that you ensure they wear their Goggles. It is compulsory world wide until they reach 19 year and there is a good reason. If you are hit with a squash ball in the EYE it is very unlikely the eye will recover. If a junior is seen on court without goggles they will be told to leave the court. If they continuously refuse to abide by the rules of squash they will be reported to management.
