Well done to everyone. More junior action this week in lansdowne and hopefully some senior success in Glasnevin. As always if we miss anyone just let us know!
Coaches CornerMake it difficult to beat you! It's always nice when your opponent gifts you a point from an unforced error. Make it your aim in your next match to miss as few shots as possible becoming more consistent and difficult to beat. Be that annoying girl or guy that people don't like to play because 'they just get everything back'How to use this tactic1. Add topspin or slice to your shots to increase control on the ball and also making it difficult for your opponent to return2. Build the rally patiently wearing your opponent down until they get tired or leave space open on the court to hit into3. Add height to your shots so you reduce the chances of hitting in the net.4. Chase down every ball regardless how far away it is. Show your opponent that you won't roll over easily and who knows, they could always miss that 'easy' smash if you make them play 1 more shot. How to counter the tactic1. Keep your opponent on the run. Dictate the rally so that you can make them tired and strike when the time is right2. Mix up the types of shots that you're hitting so you don't become predictable. They will be more likely to keep hitting it back in if you keep giving them the same shots over and over
