Planning Application Update - Indoor Tennis Development

Dear members,In October 2020 Sutton LTC applied to Fingal CC for planning permission for the construction of a 4 court indoor tennis facility to be located on the existing courts 3-6.In July 2021 Fingal CC granted permission for the proposed development subject to various conditions. Chief among these was their proposal for a reduction in scale to a 3 court facility with some additional conditions. The club together with its professional advisers decided to appeal this decision to An Bord Pleanala which was done later that month. The Board have spent the last few months considering the appeal and that of objectors and other interested parties. They have now issued their decision which in essence upholds the Fingal CC grant of permission including reduction in scale to 3 courts with the additional conditions. The club now proposes to examine this decision in detail and determine how best to proceed with the development. While we are mindful that this result falls short of what we had hoped for, we do consider this to be a good result for the club which will permit us to proceed with the development albeit at a reduced scale. We expect to be in a position to communicate more specific proposals for this in the near future.Niall Curran, Sutton LTC President
