INSOMNIA COFFEE PSA SATELLITE SQUASH TOURNAMENT – THE RESULTS

This event took place on the Sutton Squash Courts last weekend.  As a PSA Event there are no Play-off matches so it works on the basis of 4 matches on Friday, 2 matches on Saturday and Final on Sunday.

We enjoyed a weekend of fantastic Squash and look forward to many more.

Sam Buckley took the title for the second time against Conor Moran in the final. Well done to all and hopefully we will all be able to attend such Events in the near future. The Next tournament is on weekend of the 8th, 9th, 10th October in Sutton, sponsored by Insomnia Coffee again and it will be LIVE STREAMED.

    COVID-19 UPDATE – 3rd SEPTEMBER – IRISH SQUASH

    GOOD NEWS FOR SQUASH

Irish Squash are delighted with news of the easing of restrictions for indoor sports announced by the Government on August 31st. Sport Ireland provided further clarification for our sector and this is included below for your information.

In summary, from September 20th, training and competitive play may resume as normal for those who have proof of immunity to Covid-19. If all participants are not immune, then training in pods of 6 will be permitted.

October 22nd is the date when remaining restrictions will be removed.

Irish Squash will be scheduling meetings to plan the 2021/22 calendar now that we have a roadmap to work with.

Please check our website regularly for further updates.

We look forward to seeing you back together on court soon.

    Gym News

I am introducing myself as the new gym manager. My name is Kieran and I have been heavily involved in sports and the fitness industry for many years now. Thank you to those who I have already met and have made me feel so welcome. To those I am yet to meet, I look forward to it and will do my very best to ensure your experience here in the gym continues to be a positive one.

In relation to the Gym Classes, they will resume indoors from Monday 27/09/2021 following the recent easing of Covid-19 restrictions. The class max head count will remain at 6 per class. The head count for the gym floor has been increased to 15 per slot, this is respecting the easing of restrictions. Can all members please stick to their allocated time slot to make sure the gym does not go over the max head count.

There are sanitising bottles located in the gym so each member can get one on arrival and use it to sanitise and clean each piece of equipment after using.

Our fitness team are qualified Fitness instructors & Personal trainers and are more than happy to help members with a programme or some training sessions to guide you in the right direction and to help you get the best out of your sessions.

If anyone has any suggestions in relation to the gym/ gym classes I will be more than happy to take it on board. I look forward to helping you all achieve your fitness goals.

    Regards,

    Kieran

    Volunteers in Sport Awards

The Federation of Irish Sport launch this year’s Volunteers in Sport Awards, which recognise and support the army of volunteers in sport and physical activity in local communities across Ireland. The Awards will take place virtually in December 2021.

More than 450,000 volunteers across Ireland ensure that sport and physical activity take place around the country every day. Each year, this army of volunteers dedicates over 37.2 million hours of their time across the country’s sports clubs and associations. They are there to support sporting clubs and communities from early morning, to late at night, without any expectation of recognition or reward.

In partnership with the Federation of Irish Sport, EBS will honour the commitment and dedication of volunteers in helping to bring sport to the fore in a safe manner, especially through the Covid-19 pandemic. EBS is now inviting members of the Irish public to nominate a volunteer in their particular sport that they would like to see recognised at the 2021 Volunteers in Sport Awards. To nominate an everyday hero, and to be in with the chance of winning €1,000 for your local sports club, simply visit www.volunteersinsport.ie. Nominations can be made by a club, individual or sporting body and are open from September 7th, 2021, to October 17th, 2021.
