Please keep in mind the bank holiday schedule as outlined above and from Tuesday we will resume classes at full schedule. If you are new to classes or have been interested in attending a class, talk to one of our team so they can arrange a demonstration for you and give you a run down of what to expect from a class. Whether you are new to training or have plenty of experience, our instructors will let you know what you'll need, what you can expect and how you can modify the classes to suit your own ability or any limitations you might have such as an injury or illness.

    The Benefits of Weight Training

Over the past couple of weeks since our last newsletter, we have had an increasing number of people enquiring about asking us about the benefits of weight training and in particular whether it really is helpful when trying to lose weight. So to help answer some of these questions, we have attached in an article dedicated to that exact topic.

    https://www.everydayhealth.com/fitness/add-strength-training-to-your-workout.aspx

If you are interested in getting in to weight training, then our team would be happy to help design a workout for you, make sure you are doing all of your exercises correctly and that the weights you are using are suitable for your goals. Keep in mind that weight training is not isn't just Bodybuilders lifting huge weights and for growing large muscles. Weight training is anything that you push or pull against a fixed resistance. So even some people would consider Swimming to be a form or resistance training as you push and pull yourself through the water. You can lift 1kg, 10kg or 100kg and all that really matters is that you are offering a new challenge to your body to help it make changes.

    Bar News

    Dear members,

Following new Govt regulations in place for indoor dining from this week, Sutton LTC will do a trial indoor bar service on Friday 30 July. Bar will open at usual time 8-10pm. As per Govt regulations the following are requirements:

    -          Only fully vaccinated members will be allowed to sit indoors

    -          Members will need to present their covid vaccination cert in a digital or paper format AND a form of ID

    -          One way system will be in place

    -          Tables will be numbered and table service only will be available

    -          Masks must be worn on entering/exiting the bar, even if only using facilities

    -          There can be max 6 people per table

    -          Tables will be 2meters apart

    -          Unvaccinated children can accompany vaccinated adults

We are running this trial as there is a lot of requirements we need to ensure are in place before we can open the bar for indoor service on a regular basis.

Also, please note, members coming off court or directly from the gym to avail of the bar facilities will be encouraged to do so outdoors as our outdoor offering is remaining in place. Unfortunately, our showers are still not allowed to open. Please rest assured that we are doing absolutely everything we can to ensure that all cleaning and hygiene standards are in place with the very best interest of the health of our members.

Bar service will continue outdoors this evening, Thursday 29 July.
