Golf in Sutton LTC
Many tennis players are sure that there is very little extra required to become a proficient golfer, so there is a continuous drift to golf as recovery periods from tennis matches become longer for our more mature players.
While there was a vibrant golf society in the 80s and 90s, easier access to local golf clubs and spiraling costs for society outings has meant that golf activity in the Club is confined to a few outings per year and one major golfing competition – the Centenary Trophy – kindly donated to the club during the club’s centenary year in 1982 by club stalwarts Dermot Quinn and Brendan McKenna.
As well as an annual Matchplay fourball, the committee is looking at the possibility of a long weekend away with competitive golf as the core activity. Socializing will be kept to a minimum, and players will be confined to two drinks per day.
All events will be advertised on the website as well as notices in the clubhouse.
